Morgan Leigh Stewart is a creative producer based in Auckland, New Zealand

Morgan’s first feature DEATHGASM premiered at SXSW in 2015. Later that year the collaborative NZ On Air funded K Rd Stories – a series of 10 short films about New Zealand’s most iconic street – which she produced together with Hazel Gibson premiered at an event along Karangahape Road itself.

Morgan has also worked for screen industry organisations and events in NZ and Australia including the Melbourne International Film Festival, The Australian Centre for the Moving Image, Screen Auckland, Film Auckland, 48Hours, and The New Zealand Film Awards. In 2018 Morgan joined the team at Doc Edge as the festival producer for that year.

Projects through The Hot House include Blood & Gold (Show Me Shorts, In The Palace, Santa Barbara IFF) We Rock! (Doc Edge’s Rangitahi Film Fund, AmDocs, Show Me Shorts) Number Two (Aesthetica, Show Me Shorts); the NZFC funded Green (Show Me Shorts People’s Choice); Bird’s Eye! (Doc NYC, Sheffield Doc); Stick to Your Gun (Palm Springs ShortFest, Fantastic Planet, Cleveland IFF and more).

Projects in development include: Operation: RAMBU! A feature documentary in development that was spawned from Rajneel Singh and Steve Austin’s 2019 Loading Doc short of the same name; the development of Rachel Ross’s first feature Exhale. The feature version of Yamin Tun’s gritty western Blood and Gold - written by Jodie Hillock attended Script to Screen’s Story Camp in 2022. Workmates is a feature comedy penned by Sophie Henderson, and co-directed by Curtis Vowell and Michelle Savill that is in advanced development. In 2022 The Hot House will collaboratively produce THUNDERLIPS’ Catalyst He Kauahi short film I’m Alien Pregnant; as well as further developing their feature projects Golden Years, and Mum, I’m Alien Pregnant.
